Audio-Recommendations

Ads

Our computing interaction is about to change, or it has changed already. We no longer go through articles on Google, because of the AI snippet and “People also ask” questions. At times we do not even visit Google, because GPT and Claude do a great job.

Similarly, our computing interaction is going to change in all of its forms: be it booking an Uber, or managing enterprise-wide software license renewals. We no longer need to put our attention to making our computers work. They are becoming intelligent enough to contextually perceive and do what we wish to do. And when our placement of attention changes, the advertisement world changes.

Audio being one of the major interface methods, we have been exploring audio-based conversational ads in our meeting room product - Meera. In our internal testing audio ads along with CTA on the screen proved to be a major success. What's particularly interesting is how the meeting context itself enhances ad relevance - for example, during a logistics review meeting where teams are discussing high non-pickup rates and failed deliveries, suggestions about an automated customer presence verification system feel natural and helpful rather than intrusive.

One of the experimental ads that we created through our engine was for an audio chatbot.

Ayan, and Riya (AI chatbot) are talking. And during the conversation Riya recommends trying out a new run club.

We can look at audio recommendations as a reinvention of ads we used to listen to on the radio, just more contextual and less salesmanlike this time.

This direction definitely reduces the plausible real estate but, at the same time, shoots up the conversion rates due to ultra-high intent and clear CTA. The effectiveness is rooted in a deep novel relationship between users and conversational platforms: one built on consistent helpful interactions and demonstrated understanding of user needs.

We are exploring its use across multiple consumer and enterprise setups. We’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can together make its use better.
